Improving Your Room Decoration By Area Rugs

Anybody who values the look and feel of the interior of their house will tell you that decor is of utmost importance in homecare. Decor is a reflection of personal taste and deals with the balance of furnishings, lightings and the structure of the house to improve the aesthetics of a room; even the most well-designed and built house in the world would be an uncomfortable place to live without correct decor. This article will provide a short, easy to follow guide to some simple steps to instantly improve the decor of a room in your house by focusing on two main principles; lighting and furnishing.
Interior lighting is a major factor in altering the feel of a room and modern decorating techniques mean that we are no longer reliant on free-standing lamps to provide this feel. Ambient lighting, for example, creates very few shadows by filling the room with a glow rather than an intense source of light. This flattening of the room as be created by using a dimmer switch, wall sconces or paper lanterns. Accent lighting, by contrast, highlights individual features of a room by directing a light source at them, or positioning a light source directly above or below them. This is used to especially good effect in rooms with centrepieces or natural focal points; fireplaces and large paintings for example. By choosing the correct type of lighting for the intended feel of the room, you will discover limitless possibilities for the overall decor of the house.
Possibly the most important factor is successful decor, however, is the furnishings or a room. It is highly advisable to pick a theme for a room and stick to it with regards to both decoration and furnishings; the carpet, wall paper, curtains and furnishings must all be of a certain theme to avoid clashing. Metal blinds and laminate flooring combined with a large traditional wooden fireplace and mahogany furniture, for example, would be hideous to behold. The key is to choose your theme and stick to it; be it modern, traditional or a very clever mix of the two. Once you have picked your theme and installed the basic furnishings, consider adding some stylish additions like pictures on the walls, bookshelves and rugs. Rugs especially can make a huge impact on a room for better or for worse! A rug must be chosen very carefully to avoid it clashing with the rest of a room; not only in terms of colour but also in design and style.
Although a clashing colour will make the rug useless, a clashing design can also change the impact of the rug entirely; a spotted rug on a striped carpet, for example, could look awful. Again the style and theme of the rug must also match the room; a thin, clinically-shaped and pastel-coloured rug would look most out of place in the middle of a deep, woollen carpet in a lavishly decorated front room, for example. That being said, sometimes shaggy rugs make wonderful additions to otherwise minimalistic rooms; serving as a centrepiece for the around which the other furnishings can be positioned!
A combination of stylish furnishings and appropriate lighting will be the cornerstone of the decor of any room. Modern furnishings normally benefit from task lighting or aesthetic lighting that serves as decoration in itself, where traditionally decorated rooms often look best with more subdued lighting, with accents for focal points in the decor. However, experimentation is the foundation of discovery and I highly advise everybody to try new things with their decor, though to also avoid spending lots of money of furnishings bought on whims!

Rugs are commonly seen in many places both in modern and traditional buildings. This can be considered as an important decorative item in every place. The size of the room determines the size of the rug. This will provide comfort and rich feel to the entire atmosphere. Initially rugs were used to beat the coldness in the place but now it has turned out to be an important accessory for interior arrangements of the room. There are different varieties of rugs and each of them comes in different shape and sizes. Color is another important factor that can be chosen from a wide variety of choices in order to select your rug. This can either be heavy rug with many fur materials or light rugs with less fur materials.Rugs came in to being very long back. But the purpose of its use was quite different then.
There are different types of rugs like sheepskin rugs, cowhide rugs, goatskin rugs, shaggy rugs, modern rugs, wool rugs and so on.The price tag increases with the type of rug and this is mainly determined by the type of material used for making the rug. Whenever you think about a rug,the first thing that comes to your mind will be the picture of a bulky sheep with full of fur on the body.In fact this can be considered as the most popular type of rug and also the most expensive type that is available in the market. The rising expense in acquiring one such rug can be due to the manpower needed to make one such carpet.Skilled labor is essential in making this carpet and you will not be able to get adequate manpower every where.
People who live in colder regions where there is large number of sheep will be able to make these kinds of carpets. All the modern rugs are machine made and it can be manufactured within very less time. This can be considered as one of the major reason for reduced price when compared to the hand made rugs.It will be a dream for every person to get a sheep rug as this is the most famous around the world. You should take good are of these rugs. These rugs can be placed indoor or outdoor. You should allow them to dry naturally in case if it turns wet. Machine made rugs, made from polypropylene fiber, nylon and some wool, depend on advanced machines and equipments at present. Ten colors can be displayed by knotting machine so far. Though its colors, patterns as well as lifespan cannot be compared with that of a aubusson rug, its price is much cheaper and competitive.

Shaggy rugs are often referred to as conversation starters. This is due to their inviting colored nature which is a favorite to many. They are usually fluffy and their laid back nature creates comfort and ease in you home. They used to shine in the 1970s but, today they are still going strong and making a name for themselves. They are found in all colors and are available everywhere. You can use them to create or enhance a certain theme in your home. Also they are quite affordable. They come in various sizes and it would be good to consider or measure your space so that you can have the right figures that you are looking for.
Shag rugs come in the most amazing combination of colors. Among these include, Navy Gold, Purple Orange Green, Multi Brown, Black White, Dark chocolate and Pitch Red. If you desire more funkier colors, you can go for Flamingo Road or a Shag Garden. Viewing these amazing colors on the internet will leave you inspired and happy. They should be thick and plush. Due to their hairy texture, they are referred to as shaggy hence their name, shag rugs. The most common material they come in is nylon. Most rugs get cleaned by regular vacuuming with no hassle. They are really great when arranged between your chairs. They liven up dull spaces and create a homely environment.
Some people have been known to have them in their office spaces and it works very well to relax the mood in this rather tense areas. Shag rugs can also be made from cotton, leather and even fur. They bring luxury to any space. Their textures are like a soft furry dog. This can be a favorite to animal lovers. Some pets like cats and dogs have been reported to laze on them and they therefore provide luxury not only for you but, to your pets at home. Modern rug collections come with pile to make them more lustrous. Among other materials that are making more modern versions are wool and silk. Many are hand loomed and are therefore very personalized. An example of such a rug is the Soho shag rug which is made in India. It is made of cotton.
The very popular style in Shag rugs is the new Flokati which has a contemporary elegance to it. You can also have them custom made to suit your desired style. When getting them to decorate your house, consider the price and quality. Buy an authentic piece by first researching about the various types available. Buy the colors that please you or the ones that will go with your theme. If you just want to enhance your house, go for the colors that bring harmony to your environment. Shag rugs can bring so much fun to your house or life.
Luxury rugs is your best choice

Luxury rugs is your best choice
But let’s not forget that the Great Silk Road passed through many Asian countries, famous for rugs weaving. So at the local markets you can meet products made of natural silk – light, amazingly strong and in all respects a brilliant tissue.
Today is better than yesterday
Although the rugs belong to the category of things which are not subject to the whims of fashion, there are certain trends in its use in the interior, typical for this time.
For example, today the main “location” of rugs is the floor, although a couple of decades ago, many rugs proudly hung on the walls. Perhaps this trend is connected with the growth of our wealth, which allows to throw luxurious things under our feet easily. Or maybe it depends on the fact that at the market there is an increase of the segment of rugs, strength of which does not cause any doubts, if handled good they will keep the nap density and brightness of the colors for many years! However, it would be wrong to forget about the walls at all, especially when the question is about luxurious silk rugs from China or the exquisite French tapestry. With them home becomes more “spirited” and warmer, besides, this decoration looks so noble, that any poster (and sometimes colorific picture) is not able to compete with it.
Recently, the West has a particularly acute interest in oriental civilizations.
It makes the classic Asian colors and ethnic designs of rugs incredibly relevant. In addition, the designers of rugs often draw inspiration from the Art Nouveau era. So there are rugs-”reproductions” and “reminiscences” from the art by Kandinsky, Malevich, Picasso, Dali. Products in the style of minimalism are popular: monochrome or with a few abstract “flourishes”, details. Depending on the style of your home, you can choose rugs emphasized asymmetric or of strict geometric shapes, smooth or downy, neatly “clipped”, “sculptural” or deliberately “shaggy” …But the real lovers of expensive and unique things always will prefer the rugs, woven by their own sketch.
Windows treatments which follow modern design concepts are vital for any contemporary living space. Referring to the historical era, windows treatments ideas are often considered modern. Most people do not care the look of windows other than its expected functionality.

Horse Rugs
November 18, 2010 by Woolen rugs
There are many different kinds of horse rugs and what you use for your horse will be dictated partly by the climate in which you live and partly by the type of horse you have. In Australia, farm horses are not generally kept in stables as they are in some other countries. They are left out in the paddock in rain, hail or shine – but they often protected from extremely cold weather by a horse rug.
Left in the wild, horses develop thick and sometimes shaggy coats to deal with cold weather, but horses that are ridden frequently are usually groomed well and this removes excess hair and dirt that would otherwise form a barrier against the rain. They must then be protected in other ways. Heavy weight horse rugs with fleece linings are an excellent investment to protect your horse from those cold wintry days when it is not being ridden.
But horse rugs protect your horse from more than cold weather. In the summer flies and other insects can be such a problem that they will drive your horse crazy. Rigging it out in a summer weight horse or pony rug will keep off those irritating insects. In fact, some horses come running when they see their owner with their lightweight summer rug.
Some horse owners complain when their horse rugs are torn while being used, but if they were any stronger it would put your horse at risk. Imagine if your horse’s rug was snagged on a low branch or fallen log and didn’t tear, the horse would be trapped there and possibly injured while trying to get free.
Horse rugs are not inexpensive; however the discerning shopper may find horse rugs for sale online at a cheaper rate. And many times horse rug suppliers will have end of season sales for their goods, just as other retailers do.
Some Tips About Carpets and Rugs You Should Know
November 17, 2010 by Woolen rugs
There is both cheering and sobering forecast for the carpet industry. The good news is that the US rug and carpet market is expected to rise about 1.6 percent every year to more than 22 billion square feet. This accounts for a staggering 65% of the floor covering market. However, there is some sobering news too. Deceleration has hit the carpet and rug demand on account of decline in new construction spending. The other reason being the consumers’ shift in demand to hard surface flooring like laminates, wood and ceramic tiles. The estimate also points to a very important and significant development. Carpet and rug production will be supported to a great extent by consumers’ interest in environmental friendly responsible materials. Here is where eco friendly carpets come into the picture.
In this context, here are some answers to some frequently asked questions on carpets:
What Are Shag Carpets Or Shag Rugs?
These carpets are made of long pile having shaggy appearance, whereby its name. The regular carpets are manufactured by making loops out of material and then shearing the excess. Shag carpets are not sheared, leaving long pieces of material to provide a lush fluffy and soft look.
How To Clean Rugs?
Vacuum cleaning does not damage or affect the durability of shag carpets, so by all means go ahead and use a vacuum cleaner. It would do well to use the high setting or bare floor setting for daily clean up.
Are Rug Pads Needed?
Most manufacturers recommend using rubberized non skid rug pad over hard surfaces.
Do The Yarns Round The Edges Come Off?
It does initially, but eventually that should stop. Heavy durable backing with intertwined tuft binds holds all of the fibers intact.
Does The Rug Have To Be The Same Color As My Wall And Curtain Draping?
Not necessary. Your rug will look perfect if at least one color on it matches the design elements in your room.
What Is In Vogue? A Rug With A Central Medallion Or One With An Over-All Pattern?
It depends on your point of focus. If there is a fireplace in your room then a patterned rug will suit as it will not vie for attention. Nevertheless, if your room is a common sitting area then a central medallion will grab attention.
How To Be Eco Friendly With Carpets?
There are eco concerns on the manufacturing of carpets. Many manufacturers have now created eco friendly carpets. Here are useful tips.
* Look for carpets made from natural fibers. Stay away from nylon, petroleum or resource intensive products.
* Some treatment chemicals harm the environment, especially those chemicals used to remove stains. A good idea is to use chemicals to the minimum.
* Recycle previous carpets. Choose companies who recycle old carpets while buying new ones.
* Choose wool. Wool is naturally renewable and more durable than their synthetic counterparts. In addition it has fast colors, is stain resistant and extremely resilient.
Use Bathroom Rugs To Beauty Your Room
November 17, 2010 by Woolen rugs
No modern bathroom is truly complete without a bathroom rug of some kind. These rugs are available in a wide variety of shapes, sizes and styles – there’s something for everybodys taste out there. From your contemporary round bathroom rug to big shaggy bathroom rugs you’re spoiled for choice when shopping online. Another nice thing about a rug like this is that it allows you to update the bathroom itself by just changing the rug and some of the basic accents and accessories in the bathroom – you don’t always need to redecorate the entire room.
This can obviously save you a lot of money down the line as you won’t need to totally redecorate your bathroom to give it a fresh look and feel each time you want to change it up a bit. Visualize your bathroom as it currently is and then change it a bit by changing the bath rug for a new style or color. Visualize how this can and will change your bathroom. Isn’t it amazing how such a small change can make such a big difference to the entire room?
Bathroom rugs are popular for a lot of reasons but the main one is safety – their original purpose was to stop people from slipping on a wet or dramp floor after bathing or showering. The bathrug eliminates this fear because it gives the bather a stable and comfortable surface to dry themselves on. Bath rugs are really useful in a busy house with kids where you’ll have the shower in use for hours at a time. If you have a very large bathroom rug then it can span that distance between the shower and the sink so you can move from showering to brushing your teeth and shaving in safety too!
These days bathroom rugs have moved beyond mere function. They obviously do still serve a purpose in terms of providing a safe surface to stand on after showering or bathing. It’s just that they’ve also become a very real and very common bathroom accessory and are now normally integral in the design or remodelling of any bathroom; in much the same way that carpets or throw rugs are in any other room. Bathrooms are now becoming as much a statement of a persons individual style as they are a functional room that all humans need. In a way your bath rug will form the centerpiece of the room and will attract a lot of attention from visitors and say a lot about your taste and style.
Some people worry about being able to find the perfect rug…. don’t worry it does exist and will complement your bathroom completely. It doesn’t matter what style or pattern you’re looking for you’ll be able to find a match for it in at least one of the online stores and at a great price too. Some of my own personal favourites are dolphin designs (how can you not like dolphins?) and the new wooden duckboard mats that would be ideal for a more rustic bathroom design.
Your bath rug gives you a real chance to add a major dash of your own personality to your bathroom – make the most of this opportunity!
The Artistic Past And Present Of Oriental Rugs
November 16, 2010 by Woolen rugs
A rug is a floor-mat of shaggy material or thick pile. In modern times it is the carpet. When artistically woven and decorated appropriately, a carpet could enhance the splendor of the room. The designs, the color combinations, the general make all these make the rug add to the aesthetics of the room.
Oriental rugs command value throughout the world and are appreciated as works of art. The refinement of the person is brought out on the basis of his or her possession of these items.
Oriental rugs have a rich past, in tune with the rich influence it enjoys among items that are sought to be bought by the ever aware and beauty conscious public in order to increase the beauty of their homes. The term oriental relates to people, customs, traditions, beliefs, living patterns and the economy of the East.
As if in harmony with this thinking, oriental rugs have had their origin from the land of Arabia. There are myths and legends surrounding the time when the first Oriental rug would have been woven. In the absence of a sound reference, this fact cannot be easily unveiled. However, excavations carried out almost six decades ago in Southern Siberia establish the 4th or 5th century BC as the time when Oriental rugs came to be woven and used.
The nomadic tribes of Central Asia perfected the skill of knotting carpets containing geometric motifs that were inspired by plant and animal forms. These rugs took the appearance of floor covers, wall hangings, curtains and saddlebags that had the aspect of utility and decoration. These skills were spread to other lands like Persia and Turkey in the normal course or in situations of war. Italian merchants brought these rugs to the shores of Europe. This traces the existence of Oriental rugs in an occidental set up. They continue to impress and influence one and all.
Oriental rugs get woven by a process that involves stretching warp threads on a loom and knotting the pile to these threads. When a row of knots is completed a weft thread is inserted. Once the entire carpet is knotted, the pile is shorn. In simple terms, the precision of the design depends upon how tightly the rug has been knotted and how short the pile has been cut. The more the number of knots, the finer and durable would an oriental rug appears to be. The Turkish knot also called as the Ghiordes knot and the Persian knot are the popular ideas that serve as the basis for deciding the value and importance of Oriental Rugs.
The various combinations of color, design, their placements, forming an attractive pattern, determine the value of an Oriental rug. The retailers are ever alive and responsive to changing tastes and perceptions. They come out with the latest and the most exquisite, using the high quality of yarns that go to determine the overall beauty of the Oriental rug. Their delivery payment options and terms and conditions are all customer friendly.
The magic carpet in Arabian legends has wafted from Arabia across the skies to faraway lands. Oriental rugs are a living testimony to that.
